Mexico is quickly becoming one of the most LGBT and gay friendly cities in Latin America. Mexico, like the United States, has an increasingly varied culture that varies greatly from state to state. Many Mexican states have become more accepting to the LGBT communities than others. Others, you should avoid and have a long way to go to move away from their old school machismo.
            
            
While gay bars are an obvious go-to for LGBTQ folks, there is something so soothing about spending time in LGBTQ bookshops. Places where we can come together and discuss art, news, our communities and ourselves are always going to be a necessary and welcome addition to our lives as queer[…]. It is easy to perceive our Western gender binary system as the prevalent view around the world, but the culture and history of many indigenous communities refute this way of thinking.
